Although Bishamon-do is rightly famous for its wonderful autumn leaves, this temple is also very lovely in spring. A large old weeping cherry standing before the main hall becomes a vision in palest pink when it blooms. A number of other cherry trees make this temple a wonderful place to stroll through. The Yamashina temple is also beautiful when the wisteria is blooming in May. If you are in Kyoto at springtime, you can visit Bishamon-do and stroll along nearby Biwako Canal for a wonderful spring outing.
