Makuyama Park's Plum Blossoms 2025

The coming of spring amongst thousands of ume trees

Venue: Makuyama Park When: Early Feb - Mid Mar 2025

One of Yugawara’s most famous and beautiful landmarks is Makuyama Park. The park features a river, boulders, wide open space, a mountain, and—covering the base of the mountain—thousands and thousands of plum trees (and a festival) that when in full bloom in February and March have to be seen to be believed.

The blooming of plum blossoms signals the coming of spring-surely an event to celebrate! Take the bus bound for Kajiya at Yugawara Station on the JR Tokaido Line and get off at Morishitakoen-mae. It is a short walk from there.

It's still the start of March, but plum blossoms are here already. The Sakura are of course special, but plum blosooms make for a better spectacle in my opinion -- better, deeper, stronger colors.
