Nagoya’s Thai Kitchen, Pakuchi

Traditional True Tantalizing & Tempting Tastes of Thai

It looks authentic, it smells authentic, it even tastes authentic, and the reason is,…it IS authentic! Just four minutes walk east of Nagoya’s TV Tower in the quieter Higashi Sakura area is an authentic looking, smelling and tasting street side Thai restaurant, Thai Kitchen Pakuchi.

Thai Kitchen Pakuchi is cleverly decorated in authentic Thai posters and advertising giving it a true Thai atmosphere. That authentic Thai feeling is further enhanced with Thai pop music playing over the speakers offering a welcome respite from J-Pop and with the Japanese staff greeting customers and they enter and leave with Thai greetings.

Pakuchi is Japanese for coriander, one of the main ingredients found in Thai cuisine, and putting the menu featuring over 70 tempting Thai tastes together, are authentic Thai chefs, using authentic ingredients direct from Thailand. While the lunch menu changes regularly, the range is nowhere near was wide as the dinner menu.

Tasty chicken and pork cuisine, traditional shrimp and noodle dishes, Thai green curry, Pattai and Tomyankun. It’s all there for you. My partner tried the 950 Yen Pakuchi Lunch, a generous serve of Thai rice surrounded by fresh spring rolls, deep fried chicken pieces and a croquet like serve, complete with a bowl of green curry and tapioca in coconut milk for dessert, and I ordered the fried rice with chicken dish at 590 Yen. She couldn’t finish it all, I’m a fussy eater at the best of times, and while the prices aren’t as inexpensive as a real street side Thai restaurant, the taste took me to Thai and back! We will be returning! With friends next time too!

The simple yet comfortable restaurant serves Asahi and Sapporo beers, with popular Thai beers, Shingha, Chang and Tiger beer also on sale, along with Thai spirits, soft drinks and fruit juices.

Thai Kitchen, Pakuchi is open for lunch daily from 11:30 to 2:30, and again for dinner between 5:30 and 10pm. Last orders are taken 30 minutes before closing times. There’s room for 32 downstairs, and another 30 seats in the upstairs dining area.

For the optimal, authentic Thai experience, choose a fine, steaming hot Nagoya day for your visit to Nagoya’s Thai Kitchen Pakuchi, the experience will be the most authentic you could have bar being there!
